Sponsorship catches on!
Young cricketers at Cornwood Cricket Club are proving a real catch thanks to a sponsorship deal.
Local electricity company Western Power Distribution has donated a slip catch cradle to the club which is used to develop fielding and catching techniques from awkward angles. The cradle is lightweight and weather proof so can be used for practise all year round by the young players.
Cornwood Cricket Club now has five sides taking part in its Colts cricket section, with two under 11s sides, two under 13s and one under 15s team. Jon Nicholls, who assists with the training of the Colts at the club and works for Western Power Distribution at its offices in Elliott Road approached the company for sponsorship.
He said: ‘We are delighted that the younger sections are developing and encourage them to be an integrated part of the club. This piece of equipment is a real boost for them and will be a big help in training and developing their all round cricketing skills.’
