Green light for science show

There will be a green theme to this year’s summer science show at Techniquest where families will be able to learn all about reducing, reusing and recycling.

The daily shows entitled ‘Gran Designs’ will take place during the school summer holidays and feature an eccentric grannie and her two young grandchildren who are trying all sorts of weird and wonderful ways to conserve  energy.

The aims of the show, sponsored by local electricity company Western Power Distribution, are to highlight practical ideas that every family can take in helping to reduce the amount of household waste they create and also to encourage people to think about recycling.

Anita Shaw, Technical Director of Techniquest, said the summer shows are always an important part of the annual programme.

She said:‘This year we are delighted that we have such a topical theme. Young people are generally very switched on to recycling but the idea is to help the whole family to get involved – from the youngest members to the older ones.’

Gran Designs starts at Techniquest on July 21 with daily shows throughout the school holidays. Families can book their places on arrival or for more information please contact Techniquest on 02920 475475.
